School Daze

HUMC picked up school supply left overs from our local schools.  Those items will be "recycled" during the summer to be given away at this years School Daze giveaway on July 29, 2017.

Though there will be a lot of items collected and recycled, there will still be a lot of needs.  As you are at garage sales and/or see school supplies on sale this summer, please pick up a few extra.  There will be a donation box in the coat room at the Huntertown Campus.

Questions?  Email Cheryl!

Thank you!!

Faith Community Nurse

After working at Parkview Health for 40 years as a nurse, I retired and wanted to still stay connected in helping others in illness and in health. I went back to school at the University of Indianapolis and took classes to become a Faith Community Nurse. Faith Community Nursing is a fairly new title previously referred to as a Parish Nurse.

The mission of faith community nursing is the intentional integration of the practices of faith and nursing so that people can achieve wholeness in, with, and through the community of faith in which they serve.

So what does that all mean? By volunteering as a Faith Community nurse I get to share the two things I love, Faith and Nursing, with members of the congregation and community in many ways.

My husband, Ken and I came to HUMC 36 years ago when our Daughter Began attending Preschool at the church. We fell in love with the church then and continue to believe in the current mission of the church, “We are called by Christ to connect and serve!”

Ken and I have been married for 42 years and family is very important to us. We have two married children, our daughter, Abby, and Son in law Nico Tigulis and Son, Kenny and daughter in law Amanda Hendricks. They have given us the loves of our lives, our 7 grandchildren, Cora (14), Keenan (11), Eli (9), Zeb (6), Tylen (5), Mila (4) and Asher (3).

In addition to our family and nursing I love Mission work. I have been on several mission trips to Africa and Jamaica though HUMC and love sharing with all of those less fortunate than us. Don’t know of a better way to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus than helping others here and abroad.

Health Outreach Team

The Health Outreach Team at Huntertown United Methodist Church is a ministry designed to help care for physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals in the community. This outreach is led by Patsy Hendricks. To learn more about Patsy see her bio above. She is a huge asset to our church and appreciate everything she does for HUMC!

Outreach Activities

  • Support Groups Alcoholics Anonymous meets at HUMC at 10:00 a.m. every Saturday
  • Forever Young meets the third Monday of each month 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Visitation Team - If you are in the hospital, in a nursing home or at home recuperating, expect to see a visitation team member. So please give the HUMC Office a call before you are admitted or have someone else call for you.

Youth Service Center

The Youth Services Center is a part of the Allen county government. It is a 24-hour emergency shelter care facility for runaway, abused, neglected and dependent children between the ages of 6 and 18.

Every Sunday we have a volunteer visit with the children who are living there. We share God's love through prayer & a short bible study. We are looking for a few more volunteers to share an hour once a month.

If you are interested or need more information please call the church office, sign up in Common Grounds.

At HUMC we believe in serving our local community as well as the communities beyond where we live.

Have you ever felt God’s nudging to go? And maybe you begin to question go where? Maybe God is nudging you to go down the street to serve within your community. Or maybe He is nudging you to invest time in a homeless shelter. Or maybe He is nudging you to another country. Wherever God is nudging the emphasis isn’t on the where; it’s on the GO.

HUMC will be going to Jamaica in February 2017. There will be some are seasoned mission travelers and some that are not. Some are going to work on construction projects and some are taking their nursing skills to the streets and to a facility that houses approximately 80 children and young adults with moderate to severe special needs. They’re going.

They’re not going for accolades. They’re going to honor God by responding to His prompting. The Great Commission was not a suggestion. Christ’s kingdom cannot be built without bold, radical obedience to Matthew 28:19: “Go therefore…” Somebody has to GO. There’s no way around it. To share the gospel with the whole world, we must be willing to pack our bags sometime and leave home.

If you would like to go in 2017 email
