Chelsea has lived in the Fort Wayne area all of her life. She graduated from Bishop Dwenger. Prior to HUM Preschool, Chelsea taught at Three Rivers Montessori and worked at 1st Source Bank. Married in May, Chelsea and her husband, Jordan are currently working on home renovations. Together they share a fur baby, a puppy, named Kyoto.
Prior to becoming the director, Chelsea has taught at HUM Preschool for 3 years. She has always been interested in marine biology, so science lessons are one of her favorite things to do with the kids. She looks forward to doing chapel each week with the kids and seeing how the Lord is working in their lives. One of the most rewarding parts of the job to Chelsea is being able to expand the His Kingdom through the lives of little ones.
When not teaching, she enjoys crafting, calligraphy, painting, reading, hanging out with friends, spending time at the lake and playing with her puppy.
2 Year Old Class
Karen joined our staff in 2015. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge across various areas of children's ministry and enrichment programs. She was a children's librarian for 8 years, VBS director for 7 years, Girl Scout leader for 10 years and has taught religious education and children's liturgy of the world for several years.
Karen and her husband, Scott have been married for 25 years. They have 4 children; Jenna (24), Chynna (21), Nathan (18), and Anna (14). She enjoys sewing, crocheting, reading and she loves to cook!
2 year Old Class
Sadi began working with children in May 2015 and right away knew she wanted to pursue a career in teaching. She is attending Ivy Tech to complete her degree in Early Childhood Education. She loves working with children because everyday is a fun, new adventure.
Sadi and her husband, Nathan were married at HUMC in July 2015. They reside in Auburn and have 3 dogs; Princess, Wrigley & Vasher. In her free time, Sadi enjoys spending time with her friends and family, movie nights with her husband, working out, cooking, photography and taking her dogs on walks around the neighborhood.
3 Year Old Class
Amy grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from IPFW with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Before joining our staff in 2014, Amy was a substitute teacher with East Allen County Schools and a teacher at Carepointe Academy.
Amy and her husband, Bryan, reside in Fort Wayne. They have one daughter, Everly, who was born in June 2016. When not teaching, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, baking, being outside, and playing with her dog, Gracie and cat, Toby.
4 Year Old Class
Michelle joined our staff in 2014. She has been teaching for 9 years. Prior to HUM Preschool, Michelle taught at Lutheran Hospital's Child Development Center and Cani Head Start. Additionally, she's held positions as a camp counselor at Notre Dame's soccer camp and as a Child Watch attendant at the YMCA.
Michelle grew up in the Fort Wayne area. She graduated from the University of St. Francis in 2007 with a Liberal Studies degree with concentration in Social Work and Elementary Education. Michelle also played soccer at St. Francis and still plays in community leagues and coaches her daughter, Jordyn ().
4/5 Year Old Class
Alyssa graduated from Bishop Luers and studied at IPFW. She is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Ryan and together they have two children, Ella (6) and Collin (3).
She has taught infant through school age children for 9 years. She enjoys teaching because of the way a child's face lights up when they learn something new. At one point, she stepped away from teaching to pursue other dreams and missed teaching so much she decided to return to her passion. When not teaching, she enjoys reading, watching movies and bonfires with her family.
5 Year Old Class (all day)
Katie has lived in Fort Wayne for about eight years. She graduated from Norwell High School and studied at IPFW. Currently, she is finishing her last semester at Ivy Tech. Prior to HUM Preschool, Katie taught at Kiddie Prep School and ran her own in- home child care. She and her husband Kyle have two boys, Jackson (12) and Harrison (6).
Katie has worked with children over the last fifteen years. She enjoys teaching because of the “aha” moments that children come across daily! She also loves pouring love into the children. When not teaching, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, helping out with church activities, reading, and working out.
Child Care teacher
Kayla joined our staff as a part time child care teacher in the fall of 2015. She is currently a Senior at Carroll High School. After graduation she plans to attend IPFW to study Elementary Education.
